The Foundation

An internationally representative Board of Directors is being established for the ManyOne Foundation, and will include 30 to 40 members from around the world. Leaders who have agreed to serve on the Foundation Board include:

Joseph Firmage

Chairman of the ManyOne Foundation.

Richard Perl

President of the ManyOne Foundation, Richard is a founder of the Social Venture Network and the Threshold Foundation.

Thomas Aarts

Co-founder and executive editor of Nutrition Business Journal (NBJ), the journal of record for strategic information and market intelligence in the nutrition and natural products industry.

Mahnaz Afkhami

Founder and President of Women’s Learning Partnership (WLP), former Minister of State for Women’s Affairs in Iran, and a leading advocate of women’s rights for more than three decades.

Ann Druyan

Founder and CEO of Cosmos Studios and an accomplished science writer and co-author of several books, including the “Cosmos” television series with Carl Sagan, her late husband.

Doug Engelbart

Technology visionary, pioneer of hyperlinking and inventor of the computer mouse.

Jane Goodall

Anthropologist, conservationist and founder of the Jane Goodall Institute.

Khadija Haq

President of Mahbub ul Haq Human Development Centre and a leader on issues of economic and social development and women’s empowerment.

Paul Hawken

Environmentalist, educator, entrepreneur, journalist, and best-selling author.

Ashok Khosla

Social entrepreneur, environmental visionary, and 2002 winner of the prestigious UNEP Sasakawa Environment Prize.

Lelei LeLaulu

President and Chief Executive Officer of Counterpart International, formerly from a United Nations career that recently included membership in the UN Reform Team which, among other things, gave the world body its most thorough overhaul in 50 years and enhanced the way the organization consolidates and delivers development assistance to those in need.

William A. Nitze

Former senior official at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. State Department. Chair of the Charles Darwin Foundation, Inc. and the Climate Institute and Equinox Energy Solutions, a new company established to design, assemble and market energy security systems that combine solar roofs with battery storage.

Former Senior Advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and to the President of the World Bank.

Jonah Wittkamper

Biologist, technologist, and organizer of the world’s youth community.

Professor Muhammad Yunus

Founder of the Grameen Bank, which launched the worldwide micro-credit movement.

Richard Perl

As President of The ManyOne Foundation, Richard brings years of experience as a well-known advisor to several businesses with socially responsible missions. Since 1987, he has been a leader in the Social Venture Network, one of the leading international organizations of entrepreneurs who integrate social objectives in business. Richard was also a co-founder of the Threshold Foundation, a philanthropic network and community launched in 1981. Richard’s initiatives in social venturing have included multiple books, writings, and conferences. He was a convener and co-author of “The Path to Living Economies” and he co-convened GEMS, (Green Economic Movement Strategies), an effort to align the economic power of the millions of individuals committed to “cultural creative values.”

Richard served as CEO for Infinite Possibilities International and several subsidiary companies that oversaw the business activities of Deepak Chopra. Richard also co-founded and managed Pacific Partners International Investments, Inc. in 1988.

Richard received his M.B.A., law degree, and B.A. from Columbia University in New York City.
